Master's Degree

The Londen Institute does not award degrees. However, students may apply all Londen credits to a Master of Arts degree from Hope International University.

To earn the 36-unit M.A., students must complete all degree requirements as outlined on the website and in the M.A. Student Handbook.

Master’s students may choose a concentration in one of the following areas:

  • Christian Leadership
  • Church Planting and Evangelism
  • Intercultural Studies
  • Worship

Hope’s Graduate Ministry Department emphasizes these three components in its courses:

  • Biblical and Theological Development (a solid grounding in the Christian Scriptures),
  • Professional Development (practical ministry skills), or
  • Personal Development (spiritual formation and/or mental, emotional, and physical health).

The M.A. is a customizable program in which students may choose the specific combination of courses and/or residencies that best meet their educational and professional needs. Hope calls this approach “just in time education.” However, in order to produce well-rounded ministers, the University requires the master’s degree to consist of approximately

  • 40% Biblical Development
  • 40% Professional Development
  • 20% Personal Development

Hope ensures this balance because ministers with exceptional pastoral and managerial skills (Professional Development), who know little of God’s word (Biblical Development), have limited effectiveness as ministers for Christ’s Kingdom. Likewise, men and women who know the Scriptures well (Biblical Development), but who cannot get along with other people or practice the presence of Christ in their own lives (Personal Development), do not represent the Lord well as His ambassadors.

Designed for working adults, the Master of Arts degree may be completed 100% online, or through a combination of online courses and on-ground residencies.

Examples:

  • A student could complete eight 3-unit Regional Residencies and two 6-unit Campus Residencies over the course of two years. In this way, s/he could earn the 36-unit Master of Arts degree at a tuition cost of $13,140 or $547 per month.
  • A student could complete four 3-unit Regional Residencies, one 6-unit Campus Residency, plus nine 2-unit online courses over a period of three years. In this way, s/he could earn the 36-unit Master of Arts degree at a tuition cost of $13,140 or $365 per month.

Degree-seeking students are eligible for federal student loans and other financial aid through Hope’s School of Graduate & Professional Studies.
